School Fair
As you can see from the PTA newsletter the school fair is to be held on the 7th November.
The fair committee has made great progress with planning for this. It will however require help from all families to bring it to fruition, create a fantastic school memory for the children and make some money for quality school resources as well.
So please let the school office know or email pladams@xtra.co.nz if you can suggest any of the following:

Somebody with Ponies that could be used for the pony rides.
Does anybody have contacts for bouncy castles to hire?
Are there any hairdressers in the school community who could advise on the funky hair stall?
Does anybody have face painting skills or balloon animals?
Places of businesses who may donate prizes for the chocolate wheel or silent auction.
Does anybody have a harness we could use for horizontal bungy ?
Do you know of any school businesses who may be interested in sponsoring a stall at the fair?

Fair committee meeting (next term) 20th July 7.30 pm in the staff room. All welcome!

The children enjoyed a cultural experience last Friday

Room 3 Class Happenings

This term we have looked at how to write a poem and how to make our writing more interesting. Below are a selection from our writing books.

Dogs
Can like
Bones. Dogs can
Help me and people.
I like my
Dog. My dog
Jumps at Me.

Matthew

Frogs can jump. Brooklyn brought frogs to school today. I was scared of holding one. Then the teacher said they won’t hurt me and she put one of the frogs in my hand. It felt soft on my hand. It was on Wednesday. It was fun with the frogs.
Jared

Cold is the ice on the water and when we step on it, it breaks.
Cold is the planet Pluto, an ice land in outer space.
Cold is the wind blowing every day in my face and it is annoying.
Cold is the icecream that I eat.
Nick
Hot is the lava about to erupt from the volcano when it is bubbling because it is hot.
Hot are the flames flickering in the fire.
Hot is the bonfire when we put oil in it.
Hot is the desert because there is a line going around the Earth and there is no water so the people have to dig wells.
Reid

On Monday the 28th of June Jared brought Bubbles the lamb to school. She makes a noise like this baabaabaa. She looks cute because she has fluffy and curly wool. She lives in a box by the heater. She is 8 days old. Bubble’s mum can not feed her because she is sick.

Sports Report
Table Tennis: Harry McLean, Damian Mitchell, Ronan Harvey and Tom Van Eeden represented Sacred Heart in this term’s table tennis primary competitions held on Tuesdays.
Damian, Harry and Reuben Brown participated in Wednesday’s school championship. The children’s ball skills and co-ordination , along with their quick thinking when playing doubles has improved immensely.
A new round in Term 3 will bring exciting challenges.

Hockey: After struggling to field a team at the start of the season, we now have a combined yr 3, 4 & 5 team representing Sacred Heart in the primary section on Wednesdays.
That anticipated win is yet to come. We are so close!! I’m sure the taste of victory will unfold next term.
Team spirit and fair play are encouraged as new ball skills are developed.
A huge thank you for the purchase of our new ‘Robo-cop’ goalie gear.

I acknowledge the support of parents, especially on those cold hockey nights (we have had no cancellation) and scoring in table tennis, and hope to see you all back next term ~ Trish Mitchell (Support of Sport)

No need to register just turn up on the day with a digital camera or camera phone, some pens, a clipboard or something to write on and warm clothes.

Fair Committee
We will be holding our first fair committee meeting this Monday 28th June 7.30 in the school staffroom. Please bring any ideas of activities that may be popular and also suggestions of where we can obtain donations of prizes. All welcome.

Room 2 Class Happenings

We have been learning how to write colour poems in Room 2. First we wrote a poem about the colour 'Red', then 'Yellow' and then the children chose the colour they wanted for their final poem. Once we finished these poems, we then used them for our read aloud assessment. The children did such a great job, and you can see video of some of our reading aloud on our blog site www.room2sacredheartschool.blogspot.com
