Dear Parents

A big thank you to the PTA for organising the movie night. It was great to see such a good turn out and I know all the children
(plus a lot of the parents) enjoyed the movie.
We look forward to next term’s events including the Mini Olympics, Kids Congress, Life Education Van and the Choral Festival, Science Fair and Southland Speech Competition.
I hope all the children have a relaxing break and I look forward to seeing them on Monday 21st July.
If you get a chance in the holidays please look at your child’s class blog. A lot of the work done in class is on-line for all to see and
comment upon. The address is www.shsinv.school.nz

FAREWELL
Today we farewell Brooklyn Smith who is attending Otautau School next term. Brooklyn will be missed in Room 1 and we wish him all the best for his future.

FIRST RECONCILIATION
Thank you to those who have returned the notice requesting that you wish your child to be prepared to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Information regarding dates for a parent meeting, school sessions and the Reconciliation night will be confirmed at the beginning of next term.

SICK CHILDREN
Ø A reminder to all parents / caregivers: sick children need to be at home. This prevents the spread of viruses throughout the class and school.
Ø Please ring/email the school if your child will be absent. We are obliged to check unexplained absentees and a lot of office time is taken contacting these.
Ø When fine, we expect all children to be outside at interval and lunch. Please send a note if otherwise.

SCHOOL READING BOOKS
A book count has been made of the junior readers and we are alarmed to discover that at least $400.00 worth of books appear to be missing. PLEASE ensure that school reading books are returned to homefolders or school bags each night. In Room 1, 2 and 3 from now on, the children are to put their reading books on their desks each morning, so that we are able to check that children have returned their book to school. If a book is left at home, it can be used for the next night’s reading and returned to school the following morning. Home reading is essential to your child’s reading progress and we need to protect our book resource. The PTA and families work hard to raise money for school and curriculum use and we need to respect their efforts and take care of our books. In addition to this, please let us know if a book is damaged, as it is unfair to other children if they open up a text to be used for instruction and find it scribbled on or ripped. Thank you ~ Miss O’Neill

LUNCH WARM UPS
PLEASE ensure that lunch warm ups are well named as almost every day we have problems identifying lunches.
As a result of mix ups some children have had their lunch eaten by other children.
