Netball
A big thanks to the Netball coaches for all your work again this year, culminating in the break-up and parent-child netball game.
The children assure me that they won.

Lunch Box Quantities
At our last staff meeting we discussed the outcomes of our timetable changes and automated bell system. One constant was the time children took to eat their lunch especially in the junior classes. Sometimes this is due to children just being slow eaters, but it can also be due to the amount of food.
We have 10 minutes for morning tea and 15 minutes for lunch. We also have a brain break at 11.20 am and milk on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Can I ask that the parents of the junior classes, please check the quantity given.

Book Amnesty
We have a lot of books not being returned to school. Can I ask all parents to check at home for books belonging to us and return them asap.
No questions asked.  Many thanks.

FAITH  FACT FOR WEEK 3   Symbols

Signs and symbols are vital to the way people communicate and find meaning in life in all human cultures.  Symbols are particularly important in Catholicism because of its highly developed understanding of Sacrament and sacramentality.  So symbols such as the use of water for Baptism, or Jesus’ reference to himself as ‘the Bread of Life’, are an integral part of a Catholic understanding of life.  All the Sacraments of the Church are actions of Christ celebrated through symbols that point to and actually bring about a deeper reality.

Class Happenings   ~   Room 5

Thank you for ensuring that your child has a water bottle in the classroom each day and replacing any needed glue sticks.

We are planning in the next few weeks to undertake construction using small cartons, as part of art. Please would you save small cartons (up to the size of a cereal box) and anything else suitable, for your child to bring to school in order to make a creation.

This month we are exploring time and learning to tell time to the hour and half-hour. We have also been looking at different sorts of clocks.
It would also support your child's learning if you were able to state the time when certain things happen especially if it is on the hour or half hour. For example: "Look! It's 8 o'clock, time for bed" or " It's 5:30, time for tea"

Room 5 have been writing narratives and would like to share some retells of familiar tales with you.

Once there lived three bears. There was a Father Bear, a Mother Bear and a Baby Bear. Then went out for a walk. Goldilocks smelled porridge. She went into the house. First she tried Father Bear’s porridge, but it was too hot. Then she tried Mother’s bowl, but it was too cold. She tried Baby Bear’s porridge and it was perfect. She later felt sleepy so she tried the three chairs. First she tried Father Bear’s chair but it was too hard. Then she tried Mother Bear’s bed but it was too soft. She tried Father Bear’s but it was too hard and when she tried Baby Bear’s bed it was just right.  Markus

Once upon a time there were three bears. They went for a walk but Goldilocks, who was naughty, went inside and saw three bowls of porridge. One of the porridges she said was too hot.  Sam

Once upon a time there were three bears who lived in a cottage. Father Bear had a big VOICE, Mother Bear had a middle sized voice and Baby Bear who had a tiny little voice. You could only just hear it. When the three bear’s mother said, “If we go on a walk our porridge will cool down. ”
There was a naughty girl called Goldilocks, who went into the bears’ cottage.  She tried Father Bear’s porridge and it was too hot. Then she tried Father bear’s porridge and it was too cold and Baby Bear’s porridge was just right.

“Let’s have a race.” The tortoise said yes. They had a race. The hare ran so fast that he had a nap. Then the tortoise was in the lead. When the hare woke up the tortoise was miles away from the hare. The hare knew he would not win. The tortoise won.  Cole R
