Ø     NEW CURRICULUM

This was released in November 2007 and is to be implemented in 2010.  As a staff & BOT we have started the process of comparing the old and new to re-design our school delivery plans.  As part of this process we will be consulting you as in regards to our progress and direction.

Ø     REPORTING TO PARENTS

Term 1  ~  Each child will set personal and curricular goals based upon curriculum objectives  -  reading, writing, numeracy, Physical Education & Religious Education.  Teachers will collate evidence of where children are to support this.

Ø     Term 2  ~  3-way interviews.  Children will explain goals where they are now and what they will do.  They will also share the evidence collected.  The teachers will also have Literacy and Numeracy assessments to share.

Ø     Term 4  ~  Written reports will be sent home.  As well as summing up the progress made in relation to the child’s goals. There will be Literacy and Numeracy assessments included.  Evidence of progress will be sent home.

Ø     TERM 1 INQUIRY UNIT

Our unit this term is “Community”.  We are using values from the new curriculum and are investigating how we can create a caring safe community at our school.  Children showing these values are being rewarded in the playground and assemblies.

SCHOOL MAINTENANCE

Thanks to the Catholic Property Office and Foveaux Communications who carried out stage 1 of a Network Upgrade.  This involves installing the latest cabling and switches for our school computer network.  They also increased the number of power outlets in each room which has been excellent.  Stage 2 will take place next Monday when everything will be connected up.  Also due to borer damage, the floor in Room 7 was replaced.

As part of our property plan the floors in the pupil’s toilet were re-sealed in preparation for an upgrade at the end of the year.
