Dear Parents
It has been good to see the sun this week and hopefully the first signs of Spring. I am lucky that my mower is currently broken as I will now have an excuse not to mow the lawns tomorrow and watch the Stags take the ‘Ranfurly Shield’ from Auckland.
I hope all Dads have a great Fathers’ Day on Sunday.

Our thoughts and prayers have been with the Hewitt family this week.

FIRST RECONCILIATION
Congratulations to Rory Horn, Samuel Sherriff, Ben Henderson, Isabella Wild, Samuel Russell and Damian Mitchell who celebrated their First Reconciliation on Thursday night. This was a lovely celebration with their families. A big thank you goes to Miss O’Neill and Father Vince who prepared them for this Sacrament.

Class Happenings ~ Room 8

Room 8 has been hit hard with this nasty bug that has been going around. We have had very little numbers in the class for the last 2 weeks. The symptoms are headache, fever, vomiting and diarrhea. If your child has any of these please keep them at home as we don’t want another bout of this bug.
On a more positive note we have achieved a lot this term. We have visited the Life Education Van and learnt heaps about feelings and how we can deal with different emotions. We were lucky enough to have Grant Milne from Touch Southland come and teach us some awesome moves to practice on the touch field. In Literacy we have been learning what a good letter looks like and tells us. We discovered that we must tell the reader something and ask them something to achieve this. In Numeracy we have mastered fractions. We know what each number tells us and how to find a fraction of a number.
Yesterday we had our class mass with Room 9. Thank you to all the parents that came along and celebrated this with us and joined us for a shared lunch, it was great to see the sun.

JUMP JAM
As part of our school’s Jump Jam contract, four year 5 student took part in a student leadership afternoon at Salford School. They were taught the technique moves for Jump Jam 12, and how to break them down for the junior school. We look forward to being lead by, Briar Kilsby, Shelley Mitchell, William Mason and Clarke LeBreton.
