Dear Parents

What a difference a week makes. During last weeks interviews a number of families mentioned they were worried about their water supplies and were or had purchased water. After this weeks weather that is hopefully not the case now.
This week children in Rooms 3, 5 & 7 have started a Skills Based Physical Education Programme at Stadium Southland. We have also been fortunate to have Alli McKenzie from the University of Otago, taking demonstration lessons in some of our classes. I know the children enjoyed these and the staff look forward to continuing to implement her suggestions.

Thank you for returning the response slips. If I received your slip I will have sent a note today (Friday 15th) confirming this. If your child does not give you a yellow note confirming this, please let the school know immediately in case names have not been added to my list. Thank you ~ Mary O’Neill

CLASS HAPPENINGS - ROOM 3

It has been a busy first three weeks of Term 2 in Room 3. We are now working hard to achieve our goals so that we may be able to decide where to next. Although it was difficult explaining these to our parents at interviews we are beginning to understand what they mean.

In RE we have been learning that Jesus showed his love and respect for others by listening and talking with them.

Today was the first day of the Skills Based Programme at Stadium Southland. We were given the opportunity to learn skills such as throwing, catching, passing and kicking using a range of different sized balls.

Below are some examples of writing that focuses on including feelings.

When Fiah was a baby I got to hold her. Mum, Dad, Thomas and Bronte held Fiah too. I felt happy and excited because I had a new baby sister. It was cool. She is one and a half now and sometimes she can be bossy. She says, “Sit here Piper!” By Piper

When I woke up I got out of bed and got a big fright because I stood on something rubbery. I found an SBS bag with my name on it and when I opened the bag, what was in it? There were lollipops, jellybeans and balloons. Yay! By Caleb

We got a new rugby ball. Dad took me to Rebel Sport last year to buy it. I felt happy because I like rugby. My favourite part of rugby is running with the ball and scoring a try! By Jacob
