Dear Parents

Thank you to all parents who have been able to assist in any way at school this term.
This has been much appreciated.
I look forward to seeing many of you at the PTA car trial on Sunday.
A big thank you to Juliet Clapperton for her publishing of the PTA newsletter. An excellent job.
Next week I will be at the NZ Principal’s Conference. For urgent matters, please contact Miss O’Neill
I wish you all a safe and hopefully warm break and look forward to seeing you all again on Monday 19th July.

SACRAMENTAL PROGRAMME
The programme of preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be offered for children next term. The specific date is yet to be advised. If your child is baptized and is Year 3 or above OR 7 years of age or above, they may be ready to receive this Sacrament. The programme involves the children working through a workbook at home and some sessions at school. There will be a parent meeting next term to explain the process.

If you wish your child to be prepared for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, please fill in the form at the end of the newsletter and return it to school by Tuesday next week.
Please see Father Vince or Miss O’Neill if you have any questions.

Sports Report
Table Tennis: Harry McLean, Damian Mitchell, Ronan Harvey and Tom Van Eeden represented Sacred Heart in this term’s table tennis primary competitions held on Tuesdays.
Damian, Harry and Reuben Brown participated in Wednesday’s school championship. The children’s ball skills and co-ordination , along with their quick thinking when playing doubles has improved immensely.
A new round in Term 3 will bring exciting challenges.

Hockey: After struggling to field a team at the start of the season, we now have a combined yr 3, 4 & 5 team representing Sacred Heart in the primary section on Wednesdays.
That anticipated win is yet to come. We are so close!! I’m sure the taste of victory will unfold next term.
Team spirit and fair play are encouraged as new ball skills are developed.
A huge thank you for the purchase of our new ‘Robo-cop’ goalie gear.

I acknowledge the support of parents, especially on those cold hockey nights (we have had no cancellation) and scoring in table tennis, and hope to see you all back next term ~ Trish Mitchell (Support of Sport)

PTA
Free Car Trial Sunday 27th June
The PTA will be running a Family Car Trial on Sunday 27th June leaving from the school hall @ 2.30pm. Lots of fun to be had, with prizes to give away. To finish off the day, pick up your Fish & Chips and join the other families in the hall for tea. No need to register just turn up on the day with a digital camera or camera phone, some pens, a clipboard or something to write on and warm clothes.

Fair Committee
We will be holding our first fair committee meeting this Monday 28th June 7.30 in the school staffroom. Please bring any ideas of activities that may be popular and also suggestions of where we can obtain donations of prizes. All welcome.

Room 2 Class Happenings

We have been learning how to write colour poems in Room 2. First we wrote a poem about the colour 'Red', then 'Yellow' and then the children chose the colour they wanted for their final poem. Once we finished these poems, we then used them for our read aloud assessment. The children did such a great job, and you can see video of some of our reading aloud on our blog site www.room2sacredheartschool.blogspot.com
