Sacred Heart School Newsletters

26 April 2010

1 April

Dear Parents

I wish to take this opportunity to thank all parents and families for your support this term and wish you all a happy and safe Easter break.

Interviews
These will be held on Tuesday 27th & Wednesday 28th April.
School will close on Tuesday at 12.30pm.
This year we are trialling a new system for interviews/reports, especially in Rooms 1 – 6. The children from these rooms will have received a note requesting a 15 or 30 minute interview. This is so we can have the usual 3-way interview to discuss children’s goals and an additional parent/teacher session to discuss progress and achievement. Forms are in the junior corridor for you to book a time that suits you best.

Upcoming Events
School starts back – 19th April
Interviews – 27/28 April

Congratulations
To Rylee Hewitt who participated in the Southern Regional Dance Theatre Ballet competitions held in Bluff last weekend.
Rylee was placed 2nd in the Classical Ballet Dance Impromptu, 3rd in the Barefoot Imterpretive Novice, Very Highly commended in the Demi Character and Barefoot Impromptu and commended in Barefoot Interpretive Open. A great effort.

Room 7 have sold the most raffle tickets and have had a class treat this week, well done. The children who sold the most raffle tickets were Troy Sutherland and Georgea & Joshua Newell. They have also received a well deserved treat to share with their family.
Thank you to all those families who sold their tickets, we have approximately $3,500 to use for the school, a fantastic effort.

Mothers Day Gift
This year we plan to have the ‘Mothers Day treat’ again. The children are asked to each contribute a small gift to the tables and each child brings $2 to buy a gift for their mum (remember approx $2 value per gift). The children could be creating/selecting a small gift over the holidays for this fun event.

Entertainment Book
We have an entertainment book as a PTA fundraiser. A separate letter detailing this offer is included with the newsletter today. The book covers Invercargill, Dunedin, Queenstown and surrounds and are sold for $50 each, with the school getting $10 for each book sold.
The book is made up of vouchers and discounts relating to Food, Entertainment, Accommodation, Travel & Leisure, Car Hire and Theme Parks in Australia. If anyone wants to have a look at their website please go to www.entertainmentbook.co.nz
Each family will be given a book early next term and this can be returned to school if you don’t wish to purchase it.
N.B. This is not compulsory; we are just giving families the opportunity for great discounts. However please take the time to check it out as we feel its good value for families and easy to save the $50 cost if used over several everyday purchases and it’s great for the school.

Thanks ~ Your PTA
