Dear Parents

Sacrament of Reconciliation
Thank you for the responses for preparation for First Sacrament of Reconciliation. The children whose names have been given to me, received a note today confirming that their names are now on the list. If any children should have been included but have not informed school, please return the form at the end of the newsletter or contact me through the following email
address: moneill@shsinvschool.nz .
Please do so by Tuesday of the first week next term.

As stated in last week’s newsletter the specific date for First Reconciliation is yet to be advised. If your child is baptized and is in Year three or above OR 7 years of age or above, they may be ready to receive this Sacrament. The programme involves the children working through a workbook at home and some sessions at school. There will be a parent meeting next term to explain the process.
Please see Father Vince or Miss O’Neill if you have any questions.

School Fair
As you can see from the PTA newsletter the school fair is to be held on the 7th November.
The fair committee has made great progress with planning for this. It will however require help from all families to bring it to fruition, create a fantastic school memory for the children and make some money for quality school resources as well.
So please let the school office know or email pladams@xtra.co.nz if you can suggest any of the following:

Somebody with Ponies that could be used for the pony rides.
Does anybody have contacts for bouncy castles to hire?
Are there any hairdressers in the school community who could advise on the funky hair stall?
Does anybody have face painting skills or balloon animals?
Places of businesses who may donate prizes for the chocolate wheel or silent auction.
Does anybody have a harness we could use for horizontal bungy ?
Do you know of any school businesses who may be interested in sponsoring a stall at the fair?

Fair committee meeting (next term) 20th July 7.30 pm in the staff room. All welcome!

The children enjoyed a cultural experience last Friday

Room 3 Class Happenings

This term we have looked at how to write a poem and how to make our writing more interesting. Below are a selection from our writing books.

Dogs
Can like
Bones. Dogs can
Help me and people.
I like my
Dog. My dog
Jumps at Me.

Frogs can jump. Brooklyn brought frogs to school today. I was scared of holding one. Then the teacher said they won’t hurt me and she put one of the frogs in my hand. It felt soft on my hand. It was on Wednesday. It was fun with the frogs.

Cold is the ice on the water and when we step on it, it breaks.
Cold is the planet Pluto, an ice land in outer space.
Cold is the wind blowing every day in my face and it is annoying.
Cold is the icecream that I eat.
Nick
Hot is the lava about to erupt from the volcano when it is bubbling because it is hot.
Hot are the flames flickering in the fire.
Hot is the bonfire when we put oil in it.
Hot is the desert because there is a line going around the Earth and there is no water so the people have to dig wells.
Reid

On Monday the 28th of June Jared brought Bubbles the lamb to school. She makes a noise like this baabaabaa. She looks cute because she has fluffy and curly wool. She lives in a box by the heater. She is 8 days old. Bubble’s mum can not feed her because she is sick.
