16 February

Dear Parents

With swimming almost finished a big thank you to all the parent helpers.

It has been a big effort to have swimming so soon after school started, but we have been fortunate to have had such good weather.

School will return to some degree of normality next week and we will have our first school assembly on Monday @ 2.15pm.

Miss Gaines

We farewell Miss Gaines on Monday as she begins her studies to become a teacher at the College of Education.

I wish to take this opportunity to thank Nichola for her excellent contribution and commitment to the students at our school and wish her all the best in her studies.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Horrell family.

Touch

Due to lack of numbers there has been no teams entered into this terms competition.

Cricket Kiwi 8's

This is played on Thursdays from 3:45pm at Queens Park. There is a bye today, due to lateness of the draw being received. The competition is for six weeks, the final game being 22nd March. If your child has shown interest in this a notice will go home with them today.

Flippa Ball

We have entered two teams this year. The competition runs in Term One and Term Four. We have a year 1-3 (Seals) team as well as a year 4 – 6 (Sharks) team. All game times will be written on the whiteboard outside the office. There has been some confusion with the year 4-6 team, this has been sorted and they WILL play tomorrow at 5:35pm.

If you have any further questions in regards to sporting events please don't hesitate to contact me stagomoa@shsinv.school.nz

Room 2 Class Happenings

We have had a wonderful start in Room 2. Miss Paulin has been a great help to us during her three week posting.

We have been busy swimming of course, which doesn't always leave much time for everything else.

This week we created some grass people. We drew some faces on yoghurt pottles, and then we wrapped some cotton wool and grass seed into some nylon stocking.

We put the tied stocking into the yoghurt pottle (the kids think that it looks like a real brain!) and when the grass grows it will look like funny hair for our people.
