2 December

Dear Parents

We look forward to this fine weather continuing for Jump Rope and our Mission Fair tomorrow. A reminder the Mission Fair will run from 1.30 – 2.30 pm. There will be a variety of things for sale and the children are asked to bring 20, 50c, $1 & $2 coins as this will be the cost of most things.

The Southland Times ran an article about the ‘Garden in Schools Programme’ sponsored by the Sunrise Rotary Club. Future school gardens will be funded by a garden tour they are running this Sunday 3rd from 1 – 4 pm. $10 a ticket, available from Professionals Real Estate, Design Base, Tile Centre, Ivan Bulling & Kepler Group.

Well done to the Seals Flipperball team who won their final in a sudden death play-off against St. Johns last Friday. Congratulations to Delwyn Hosie & Wendy Flawn for their great support.

Good Luck to: Abby Humm, Bree Chilton, Khyla Matiu-Watson, Emma Harrington, Georgia Newell and Isabella Wild for the Year 5/6 Basketball Grand Final on this Tuesday 6th December.

Welcome to Jordis Belesky who started in Room 1 last Friday.

Our prayers are with the Winter family.

School Bus Services – Last Day Thursday 8th December

All bus services will finish next Thurs 8th December. Parents will be required to arrange alternative travel for their children.

End of Year Mass

The End of Year Mass will be held on Tuesday 13th December at 1.30pm.

The reason for the change from an evening Mass relates to seating capacity in the church.

An afternoon Mass means we can give proper reverence to the Mass, as well as fare- welling our Year 6 pupils.

Parents, especially those of Year 6 pupils, are welcome, but if you can’t make the Mass, you will have had the opportunity to attend the leavers function the night before.

School books School books School books School books School books

We need all books (reading and library) returned to school now so they can be sorted before making up holiday packs for the children to take home. Please return all school books to your child's classroom as soon as possible. Thank you for your support with this.

Lost Property

We ask all parents to check the lost property box over the next two weeks please.

Anything not claimed will be given to the PTA for sale or donated to the Vincent De Paul.

The Run Jump Throw Program has now concluded at school. The aim of the program was to promote the fundamental skills of running, jumping and throwing and for everyone to be involved, as these important skills are part of most sports. It is important for these skills to be developed at an early age as it can set children up for success later in life. There are two Invercargill-based athletics clubs that teach these skills. For those interested in developing these skills the club season has just started, but new members (ages 5+) are welcome at any time. The season extends through to April 2012 with competitions on average every 2nd Sunday. All of this provides the perfect opportunity for extra practice for school based athletics (including zone and Southland Champs). It is a low cost and enjoyable sport and details for the clubs including training nights are as follows:

St Pauls Athletics Club – Tues 5.45pm (all) and Thursday 5.45pm (10+ extra training night) at Surrey Park. Contact Lilian 213 0104, hjtudor@clear.net.nz ) or Barbara

(216 8574, barbaraj@value.net.nz ).

Invercargill Athletics Club – Wed 6pm (all) at Surrey Park. Contact Tony 027 2528800 or t0nyk@xtra.co.nz - note the 0 not o in the email address).
