Dear Parents

Sacred Heart Feast Day – Tomorrow

There will be a Mass at 9.30 am tomorrow morning to celebrate Sacred Heart Feast Day.

All families are welcome to join us.

Production

Only six more sleeps until the school production and practices are in full swing.

As we have all the children involved, we will be practising every day until next Wednesday to get the spacing and act transition as smooth as we can.

The children will be attending a dress rehearsal at Centre Stage on Wednesday, leaving the school by bus at 9.30am and returning at 2.40pm. Please ensure your child has a cut lunch only (NO WARM-UPS), and a water bottle.

Tickets are selling extremely fast, so if you haven’t purchased yours, please don’t leave it much longer as you will miss out.

ERO & Special Character Review

From 8 – 11 August we will have two reviewers from the Education Review Office at school and from 22 – 24 August Paul Ferris will lead a Special Character review.

As in previous reviews parents and children may be interviewed in relation to school procedures and processes.

Year 4 – Bike Safety Day

Next Thursday is the finale of the bike Safety Programme and the children involved will be attending a fun day at Sandy Point. Thanks to all the parents who have indicated they can provide transport on the day.

Achievements

Well done to Hannah Horrell who received the POD trophy for her Spar Bush netball team last weekend.

Altar Servers

Saturday 2nd July 7.00 pm – Rory Horn

Sunday 3rd July 10.30am – Erica Forde & Georgea Newell

Children’s Liturgy – Pauline Harrington

Cancellations

ALL Fun Ferns Netball and Hockey has been cancelled next week due to the production.

Future Ferns Netball is still on.

Sports Results

Netball

Stars – won 7 – 0 against Myross Bush Blue with POD for Kayla Boniface.

Ferns – won 9 – 0 against Makarewa Magic with POD to Georgea Newell.

Shooters – lost 7 – 6 against Woodlands with POD to Renee Boniface.

Hockey

Last week our hockey team had a hard game between Myross Bush, where neither team scored a goal. Player of the day went to Georgia. This week we played Otatara and won 2 nil. Both goals were scored by Georgia. Player of the Day was Jeremy because he was constantly blocking shots which meant that we kept the ball in our half for the whole game. Next week there will be no hockey due to the school production. Our next game is on Wednesday 13th July at 4:10pm, against Makakrewa.

Thank you to the parents for their continued support each week.

Fantastic team work on the field guys. Keep it up ~ Megan Roulston

Room 3 Class Happenings

Last Friday the Junior School had a visit from Ronald McDonald. He came to talk to us about Road Safety. He taught us a song and it went like this:

Stop, Look, Listen!

Before you use your feet.

Use your eyes.

Use your ears

Before you cross the street.

Room 3 is in full swing preparing for the production next week too, as are all the other classes at Sacred Heart School. We look forward to seeing you at the performance so you can see the hard work that we have been putting in. A big thank you to Michelle Van Eeden, Paula Hoskin and Danielle Meikle for their amazing costume design and construction. Also thank you to Maria Baynes for her assistance with our dance composition.

Dear Parent/Caregiver

As the need is growing for children to be in care before school, I would like to offer the programme to you for your child/ren. Transport will be provided from the centre for your child/ren to school. For parents who already are eligible for a subsidy, you will need to apply for additional hours with Work and Income. Details about the costs, time and the structure of the programme will be finalised once we determine the interest.

Please complete the slip below and return to your school office. For further information please contact 218-9520. Regards - Michele Khan, MES OSCAR Childcare.
