Dear Parents

Success

To win the respect of intelligent persons and the affection of children; To earn the approval of honest critics; To appreciate beauty; To give of one¹s self; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived-

That is to have succeeded.

School Charter & Parent Consultation

This year we have re-designed our school charter to cater for new requirements from the Ministry of Education. Part of this requirement is further consultation with our parent community including Maori parents.

I am looking for a representative group to read the charter to see if:

a) It makes sense (parent friendly)

b) The learning goals are adequate and achievable

c) The wishes of our community are covered

If you are able to help, please contact me on 0274918694 or principal@shsinv.school.nz

Sports Results

Netball

Stars lost 6 – 3 against St Johns Yellow. Briana Henson was POD for making herself available to receive the ball.

Ferns won 14 – 1 against Salford Swish. Hannah Dawson was POD for an overall great 1st game.

Shooters lost 2 – 11 against Otatara Steelers. Charlotte Chesters was POD for an overall great 1st game.

Hockey

The Hockey season has started off very well. We have a great team and thank you to Trish for the Wednesday practice. The Sacred Heart team consists of Georgia Blue, Hayley Maloney, Mathew Books, Rory Horn, Jeremy Bower, Sam Sherriff, Briana Henson, Cameron Roulston & Zane Flawn.

Our first game for the season was 25th May, we played Otatara Fantails and won 3 nil. Briana who wasn’t letting that other team get the ball was our player of the day.

Our second game was 1st June against Ascot and we won again 3 – 1. Matthew was our player of the day, acknowledging his great improvement from last year.

Our third game was 8th June against Waihopai Stingers. Unfortunately we lost 2 nil. The two goals we did score did not count, due to our player being off side and then the whistle for half time had just been blown. Player of the day went to Sam for using his initiative on the field.

This week we played Fern Sticks and the player of the day was Rory Horn.

Our next game is Wednesday 22nd June against Myross Bush and we would appreciate anyone wanting to come to the turf and cheer us on.

Thanks for your support – Megan Roulston (Manager)

ROOM ONE CLASS HAPPENINGS

We have had a busy term so far and we are now gearing up for the production.

The children have reaffirmed their fire safety rules and can tell you what they would do in the event of a fire. Here are some of the rules we have written:

Get out, stay out, well done!

Get low and get out the window!

Don’t play with matches!

Get down, get low, get out fast!

Don’t put candles near the curtain.

If you hear the smoke alarms get out!

You have to remember not to leave matches and lighters around!

When you don’t have any beep alarms you could die!

We are now very excited about the production. If you approach our classroom at any time you may hear snippets of our song. We want to keep it a surprise but here is a little hint…

The ………….on …………….plod…….

…….day……..!

We will see you all at the production!
