SACRED HEART SCHOOL FAIR Sunday 7th November

Only 2 sleeps to go, remember to tell all your friends and family that Sacred Heart School is having a Fair on THIS Sunday the 7th November. IT’S GOING TO BE GREAT FUN!!!

Before Mass on Sunday please!!!

Cake walk bakers, we would love if anybody could bake a nice cake for this, please take your cake to the hall kitchen. (These are then wrapped in cellophane, by volunteers on the morning of the fair, to look gorgeous for the cake walk auction)

Home baking to be sold in the cake stall – this can be anything like biscuits, cakes, muffins, loaves, slices, homemade lollies etc. These can be dropped at the hall kitchen on Sat 6th Nov, between 2.00pm and 3.00pm, or prior to 10.30am on Sunday morning.

Scones for our Devonshire Tea stall. Below we have published the recipe and ask any parents who are able to make a batch for Sunday to do so – please deliver fresh or frozen scones to the hall prior to 10.30am. (Frozen is fine as they thaw fast)

White elephant stall anything for this can be delivered Sat 9am – 3pm to the hall, or if you can’t make it on Saturday then, between 9 -10am Sunday morning.

Also gardeners, if there are veggies spare in the garden (or in Granddad’s) please bring these prior to 10.30am on the day of the Fair for the Chocolate Wheel – these are always a hit.

Kids remember to bring your coins on the day to help with the flow of change.
Eftpos will be available in the office but it would be great if families could bring some cash to start.
Plastic shopping bags are always needed to carry purchases so bring to the hall kitchen if you have spare.
The weather is going to be fine so sun block and hats so we are safe in the sun.
(Extra sun block can be found at the face painting if you forget!)

Adults with the red caps on are either selling chocolate wheel tickets, are helping in the white elephant or are on the fair committee and can answer questions about furniture, site plan etc.

Room 5 Class Happenings

On Wednesday we went and watched the Tour of Southland whiz past school.
In writing we have been learning to make sure we include interesting words in our stories. Below are some children’s recounts on Wednesday’s Tour of Southland.

Today we cheered really loud for the Tour of Southland. It made me feel happy because they went so fast past our school. It was really cool that we got to make flags to wave to the hundreds of cyclists. I think that our class was the loudest. By Sionelle

This morning we didn’t have prayers first thing we went and watched the cyclists go past our school. We cheered real loud because a man said if we cheer real loud it would make the cyclists go extra fast. By Kate

On Wednesday morning we went and watched the Tour of Southland and I got a banger.
I didn’t even bang it loud. Some people were handing out lollies, but I didn’t get any. The bikers came past fast. There were lots and lots of bikers; I think their legs will get sore.
By Shaun

In the morning we watched the Tour of Southland. I made a flag. We needed to cheer loud. Our whole school came out. I felt happy because I don’t get to watch the cyclists much. There were lots of cyclists, they were cycling to Tuatapere.
I saw some people from the Share the Road team. By Jakobe

In R.E we are learning about Saints and the qualities that they hold.
Saint Nicholas is my favourite saint because he gives to others. By Ben

Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton is my favourite saint because she never gave up and got the schools for the children she taught. By Devan

Joan of Arc is my favourite saint because she pretended to be a boy so she could fight for her country. By Emma M

PLEASE REMEMBER TWO THINGS:
HAVE YOUR SUNHAT AT SCHOOL EACH DAY
NO TOYS TO BE BROUGHT TO SCHOOL
