Dear Parents

Another Friday already! It’s hard to believe we have already had two weeks of school. The children seem to have settled straight back into school and we are all working on our “Sustainability Unit”.

Thanks to those parents who have filled in their interview times. If you have not done this, the interview sheets are placed in the junior corridor for you to fill in a time that suits you best.
A reminder that school will close at lunch time on Monday 26th May to begin interviews at 1.15 p.m.

On Monday I will be attending our ICT-PD cluster Regional meeting in Dunedin. One of the workshops being offered is “Second Life” – an on-line virtual world. The teachers running the workshop will be showing us how Second Life has relevance to our student’s educational needs. While I am some what sceptical in relation to this with primary age children, I see an up-coming episode of CSI–NY deals with Second Life.
I understand there was huge on-line interest in this when it happened.

WELCOME
Welcome to Tylee & Devan Fiebig who joined the children in Room 1 this morning.
We hope they enjoy their time with us at Sacred Heart School.

NEXT BOT MEEING
This Monday 19th May 7.00 p.m.

WINTER SPORTS
Thanks to the teachers and parents who have been working to organise and prepare our winter sports teams.
Our apologies in regards to the Hockey team. We will be contacting Hockey Southland to register our annoyance with being let down so late. Mr Gander is working to put any interested children in other school teams.

CROSS COUNTRY
We have received notice today that the Zone Cross Country at St. Patrick’s has been changed from 4th June to 28th May. This means our school Cross Country will be next Wednesday 21st May.
All the children in Rooms 5 & 7 will compete, with children 10 and 11yrs at 31/12/08 going on to the zones.

OFFICE CLOSED
The school office will be closed on Monday 19th May.

CONGRATULATIONS
To Patrice Brookland who was successful in her audition for the Cats Musical.
Patrice won a part as a kitten in the up and coming show.

WANTED
We would appreciate any spare clothes for our “accidents cupboard”. Especially socks.

TRANSPORT REQUIRED
For a 9 yr old boy from school to St. Theresa’s on Wednesday afternoons. Will pay. Please contact 215-6104.

PTA
If anyone has any books in good condition and would like to donate these to our Library, please drop them off to the office. We are also interested in complete sets of games. We welcome both of these. Thank you.
