Reports & Moderation
At this time of the year while preparing end of year reports, our staff are also looking at all the assessment data collected and moderate it to ensure we are consistent across all our classes. Over the past few years there has been a lot of fluctuation with results in regards National Standards as they have been continually ‘tweaked”. This has caused some confusion for parents as an “above” moves to an “at” or an “at” to a “below” and vice versa.
This has been especially so for Maths as the curriculum document, the National Standards and the Numeracy Project don’t quite match up.
Mrs Williams and Mrs Lieshout have been working on our Math’s delivery programme for next year and have developed a more robust system to ensure our moderation processes are consistent with best practice in NZ. This will be fully complemented in 2014.

Next Friday we will be having Jump Rope at 1.30 pm. As this is a mufti day, the children will need to bring suitable footwear for skipping. Parents are welcome.

FAITH FACT FOR WEEK 7

Sunday 1st December is the first Sunday of Advent.  Advent comes from the Latin word ‘adventus’ which means ‘coming’.
The liturgical readings and prayers place emphasis on the coming (advent, arrival) of Christ.  It is a period of joyful preparation for the coming of Christ at Christmas (the Incarnation) and for his Second Coming at the end of time.  Create a special prayer space in your home, perhaps with an Advent Wreath, so that each night you can be drawn away from the media hype that leads into the celebration of Christmas and drawn into prayerful preparation for the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Room 2 Class Happenings

It has been been a strange time in Room 2 lately.  We arrived to school one day to find that the toy dinosaurs had somehow come alive in the night and played havoc in our classroom!  We did some research on the computer and found that it was happening in other places too.  It is Dinovember and this means that toy dinosaurs do some pretty crazy things when we are asleep.  Luckily December is coming very soon, because the children are becoming very worried about the demolition that the dinosaurs are causing!  Here are our stories about Dinovember.

The dinosaurs have ripped a big hole in the box. They played on the iPad.  I am annoyed because they messed the classroom up.  They ate the brain food.  It is four more sleeps until December.  They tipped the jellybeans over.  They put stickers on Mrs Stupples’ chair and her work paper.  They played on the phone.  It is Dinovember.

The dinosaurs have been naughty.  They ate the rubber.   It is Dinovember.  I will hate the dinosaurs.  They should be locked in jail.  No more dinosaurs.  They are naughty.  They ate the brain food.  They played on the iPad.  By Jack

The dinosaurs had made a hole in the box. They made a big hole.  They played on the iPad and they played Maths Duel and they made a mess on Mrs Stupples’ desk and they put sellotape on the pens so they were sellotaped together so they could slide down.  It is Dinovember.  That means the dinosaurs are alive.  They make a mess.  The dinosaur is a kind of a thing that has escaped away.  They ate brain food.  The little one could get out of the box.  Jack sellotaped the little one.  It is funny because they make a mess.  By Ruby

Dinosaurs are in Room 2.  I feel crazy today because they are silly dinosaurs today because they are naughty.  They are crazy dinosaurs.   By Lilly H

I am at school.  The dinosaur is naughty.  I am angry.  By Grace

I went into Room 2.  I saw the dinosaurs.  They saw me.  The dinosaurs broke the rubbers.
They are naughty.  By Pippa

The dinosaurs are messing the class up.  They played on the iPad.  The dinosaurs are naughty.  I was happy too.  We taped the dinosaurs to the Sellotape holder.   By Quin

The dinosaurs had a little party.  They were playing with the phone.  When I came back to school the dinosaur was out of the box.  They were playing on the iPad.  They were playing with the puzzles.  The dinosaurs are silly.  By Briarlee

The dinosaurs were using Mrs Stupples’ stickers.  They were all over the place on the Mrs Stupples’ desk and on the chair.  They all come alive at night.  Dinovember is when dinosaurs eat things and come alive at night.  I feel crazy about it because the dinosaurs are messy because they tipped over the jellybeans and they made a mess.  Today I was embarrassed because they tipped stuff over on the table and in the container and it was crazy and silly today, and they played on the phone.  They are naughty dinosaurs when they play on the phone.  By Karly
