FAITH  FACT FOR WEEK 9

Holy Week

Holy Week is the week from Passion or Palm Sunday until the Easter Vigil on Saturday night. Throughout the week the events of Jesus’ last
week on earth are recalled. The liturgies include the
Scripture readings of these events and rituals such
as washing of the feet and veneration of the cross.
The Easter vigil on the Saturday night celebrates with
great joy Jesus’ resurrection with lights, bells and alleluias.
Easter Sunday Mass March 31
A reminder for families to celebrate Easter Sunday, one of our biggest celebrations of the year, with the Parish, during Sunday Mass at 10:30am. Children are encouraged to attend Mass and sit with their families. Children are not required to wear their school uniform.

Thank you to those families who donated coins for the koha box this lent to help those in Papua New Guinea and Tonga. $147 was raised.

Lastly, a prayer book was sent home last week as part of the Year of Faith. This can be used during prayer within the home with our families and for personal reflection in helping us ‘to grow to our call to holiness of life on the different paths we follow.’ Fr Vaughan Leslie ( Preface from the Year of Faith Prayer Book   ~  Thanks Nicola

Class Happenings – Room 2
We have been learning about Holy Week, and what happened to Jesus.  This is what we have learned about the Last Supper.

Jesus had a last supper.  This was his last dinner with his friends before he was arrested.  His friends were very sad that Jesus knew he was going to die, so Jesus asked them to imagine that the wine that they were drinking was his blood.  When they drank the wine it was like Jesus was going into their hearts.  He also asked them to imagine that the bread they were eating was his body, and when they ate the bread it was like they were taking Jesus into their body again.  Jesus could stay in their heart.

We have made some art to represent the Last Supper and it is now in the church.
