FAITH  FACT FOR WEEK 8

What is grace?

Grace is God’s giving of Gods own self to us.
It is God’s life, presence and action among us.
Grace is a supernatural gift which heals and elevates our humanness so we can share in God’s life. God constantly offers us the new life of grace which will restore our friendship with God and enable us to live with mercy, compassion
and integrity.

Dear Parents

This year children who have been/or about to be baptised and are Year 3 and above are invited to participate in the Sacramental Programme. This will include:-
Reconciliation- Term 2
Confirmation –Term 3
First Holy Communion -Term 4.
A parent meeting outlining the programme will be held at the end of
this term.
If you wish your child to be prepared for the Sacraments, please fill in the form at the end of the newsletter and return it to school by Thursday next week.
Please see Mrs Winders if you have any questions.  nwinders@shsinv.school.nz

This Sunday is Palm Sunday – the start of Holy Week. I ask that as many of you as possible attend Mass this Sunday as a precursor to class preparations for our Easter Liturgy on Thursday afternoon. This year is unusual in that we return to school after Easter, so will be able to finish the Easter story at school. The Mass is slightly longer with the burning of the ‘Palms” but very worthwhile in regards our school focus.
I will be in Wellington this afternoon and tomorrow representing local principals in discussions regards to national education issues. I am sure Novopay will be at the top of the agenda.

Our thanks go to Ross Richardson for removing the poles in the playground.

BOT Elections
This year is BOT Election year. If there are any parents who are considering being on the Board or wondering about what the Board does, please contact me. A number of existing members will be standing down with their children finished or finishing their education at Sacred Heart this year.

The family who sells the most cards will receive two dozen Oysters!!!!!!!!!, and the class who sells the most (pro rata) will receive a special treat.
Please note that all tickets must be legally returned (full or empty).

Car Trial – Sunday 24th March ~ This is a fun event which from past experience the kids will really enjoy and the adults will get the chance to meet and relax in the company of other school families throughout the day. Registrations start from 2.45pm, first car away starts at 3.00pm – it is likely to take somewhere between an hour and an hour and a half to complete. All you need to come prepared with is a Team Name, Pen, Digital Camera or phone with camera – and petrol in your vehicle. Plus if you’d like to stay and have tea in the hall with other families at the end we will be finished early enough for you to bring either a picnic for your family or purchase fish & chips at the end of the car trial and still be home early in the evening. There will be spot prizes on the day and the winning team (family) will be announced and presented the trophy at assembly on Monday 25th (we need a bit of time to work it all out). So fill your car with the kids (or mix them up with other families) and we’ll see you on Sunday 24th.          Many thanks  ~ Your PTA

Class Happenings – Room 1

SWIMMING
Yesterday was our last day for swimming.  We celebrated by having an awesome fun day in the pool.  I have seen a huge improvement in the children’s confidence and abilities.  Keep up the great swimming!

QUEENS PARK
Last Wednesday, after swimming we got the bus to drop us off at Queen’s Park.  We got to have our lunch at the park then have a play in the playground.  We went on a phonics hunt and we went to the Tuatara’s to learn about their life cycle.  We also got to touch a tuatara, which was a highlight for most of the children.
ATHLETICS
Last Friday Rooms 1 2 5 6 participated in the ‘Sacred Heart Junior Athletics.’  We concentrated on the skills of, running, jumping and throwing.  We had age group running races at the end, and we have some very fast runners.  It was great to see all the parents getting involved and helping us.  Thank you.

After an action packed three weeks of swimming we are all very tired.
