27 September

Dear Parents

With this being the last newsletter of the term I wish to thank all the parents who have helped make this term such a success. Whether it be parent help, cooks, drivers, coaches, managers, audience, or supporter, your presence shows the children that what they are doing is important. Thank you.
Also a big thanks to the PTA for organising tonight’s Disco. I look forward to the latest dance crazes.
We farewell Saphira, Jade and Corey Rance tomorrow and wish them all the best.
We also farewell Mrs Armstrong from our staff. We thank her for her commitment to the children at our school. Many thanks.

*REFLECTION ON TODAY’S GOSPEL READING (From Lectio Divina)
Jesus surprises his disciples yet again. Apparently someone was casting out demons in Jesus’ name. The disciples tell him to stop because he is not one of their group. Jesus surprises them by telling them not to stop him. The reason Jesus gives is very practical. Someone performing miracles in his name could hardly turn round later and speak against Jesus’ ministry. We’re not really given many details so do not know why this person was not more closely connected with Jesus’ disciples. However Jesus makes it clear that kindness shown to one of his disciples because they are following him will certainly by rewarded.
Jesus then turns his attention to the seriousness of sin. He gives a strong warning to those who cause the young to lose their faith in Jesus (verse 42). Jesus sums his teachings up by saying don’t allow anyone or anything to cause you to lose faith in him. He emphasises the importance of this by repeating it no fewer than three times. It’s a matter of life or death, heaven or hell. We must keep our lives clearly focused on Jesus and the Kingdom of God.
MEDITATION: What does this passage teach us about how we should deal with temptation and sin? Do we take it as seriously as God does? What can we learn about our responsibility to others, especially to children concerning their faith in Jesus?
PRAYER: Read Psalm 19 and allow time for the Holy Spirit to open up areas that need to change. If we confess our sins God promises ‘he will forgive us our sins and purify us from all wrongdoing’ (1 John 1:9).

Do you know how beautiful and precious you are in God’s sight?

Room 5 Class Happenings
This week we had the opportunity to learn some Badminton with Brent Busby.  We learned how to hit a shuttlecock and that they are made from goose feathers and plastic. Brent also told us that the older the bird is that they get the feathers from the more expensive the shuttlecock is.

The Big Shake Out – This week we took part in the largest ever earthquake drill. This is what we had to do
DROP to the ground (before the earthquake drops you!),
Take COVER by getting under a sturdy desk or table, and
HOLD on to it until the shaking stops.
If there isn’t a table or desk near you, drop to the ground in an inside corner of the building and cover your head and neck with your hands and arms.

HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY HOLIDAY
