FAITH  FACT FOR WEEK 5   ~   Vocation

The word vocation comes from the Latin vocare – to call, and so means a calling from God,  In the past this was sometimes rather narrowly understood in terms of a vocation to priestly or religious life.  In more recent times the Church has emphasised the common vocation of all the Baptised.  Within this universal or general vocation each Christian may have a calling to a particular vocation; marriage, the single life or to priestly or religious life.

Our prayers are with the Folesi and Maxwell families.

Verdon College  ~ Enrolments close tomorrow

Jarlath Kelly, the Principal has requested all parents to get their form in on time. This is regardless of whether they have been able to get the preference forms signed or not. Any queries please ring me.

Convent Cup  ~  Monday 23 September @ Verdon College

We have entered the following teams for Convent Cup:

2  x  Rugby – (1 x Yr 5 + 1 x Yr 6)

2  x  Netball – (1 x Yr 5 + 1 x Yr 6)

1  x  Soccer

We are looking for coaches for the Yr 5 Netball and the Yr 6 Rugby teams.

Achievements

Congratulations to Tim Richardson who was awarded the ‘Under 7 player of the year’ for the Waikiwi Rippa Rugby Team at their prize giving last weekend.

Junior Waterpolo  ~  Years 1-6

Competition will begin next Friday (6th September) in the learners’ pool and the shallow end of the deep pool. Teams that played in Term 1 will continue in Terms 3 and 4. 

Room 7 Class Happenings

We have been looking at how properties change.

Most of our predictions when growing crystals were that we would grow big crystals that would be worth lots of money. Well after a week some of our crystals hadn’t grown, we think this maybe because of the metallic pipe cleaner that was in the cup, the crystals were not able to latch onto the pipe cleaner and begin to grow.

After two weeks, most of us had grown our very own crystals. Jared came and told us that these had formed because the water in the cup had evaporated and the salt had clinged onto the wool forming into a crystal.

    

We had lots of fun making goo. We mixed Corn Flour, water and a drop of food colouring. When we moved the goo around in our hands it became solid but if we left it to drip in between our fingers in turned into a liquid.
